Shrimp

Since shrimp are invertebrates, their physiology fundamentally differs from that of aquatic or terrestrial vertebrates. This can partly explain the difficulties met by the aquaculture sector in attempting to counter new transmissible diseases. Because of their lack of immunity, shrimps are especially vulnerable to these disease outbreaks. How does the shrimp immune system function? How can this immune system be stimulated to decrease the stress level in the context of rearing?  Are shrimp receptive to vaccinations?
With all this in mind, articles in this section will present the main principles of shrimp immunity. Consideration of these principles in the context of rearing will allow for maximum growth performance and increased profit. We will go over the basic properties of the shrimp physiology and its impact on rearing methods as well as on the emergence and the spread of diseases.
